But I could say the same for people that overeat, oversleep, play video games for excessive amounts of time, bury themselves in work, or reality tv, or random/wanton/NSA sex, porn, smoking, drugs, unhealthy amounts of exercise...
The list goes on and on and on. Everyone has ways of coping with weakness or depression and at times, when it seems most unfavorable, that's when I notice the need for simple compassion the most. Not needing to tell someone they are wrong or bad or weak-minded or whatever. Sometimes, our problems look too big to conquer and we just need to cry about it. Sometimes, we need to be emo for a while. No one experiences pain without having some degree of weakness and if I can't rid myself of it, I could at least use it to understand someone else's.
I gave you that compassion when you became another person because she broke up with you. I extend that same compassion when you leave rooms to watch movies because you don't want to deal with the dark side of someone else's emotions. I extend it to you again when you choose to drown yourself in sarcasm or video games or youtube. I don't criticize when you lose yourself in dark emotions because you don't like where things are in your life and you complain about them for hours on end...
Instead, I listen and I care. Why can't you do the same?
Because our own drama makes us selfish, self-centered... But then, it is so much better when we get out of our bubble and help each other...
