Today is a day of silence for people in the LGBT community that have endured great oppression from people that don't understand them. If you can't get your mind around this, then think of it as memorial day for gay, lesbian, transsexual or bisexual people.
That said, on this day of silence, I encourage you not to be. Treat people like people. Period. If you see someone being disrespectful to these kinds of people, then I give you full permission to punch them in the face.
