just rang in the distance -- three chimes. I am hungry and I would
like a sandwich. I am going back and forth between two computers for
information. My boss is checking facebook to keep himself sane before
writing another business email. He likes some of the people he works
with, but he hates his job sometimes. It is draining to him. He would
rather do something else.
His phone is still plugged into my charger.
A cup was just moved. My iPhone glows as a login process completes. I
hear the hum of electric appliances; my computer, his computer, the
printer, the heating system. I hear it all.
I am warm. It is cool, but not uncomfortably so outside. My boss sighs
and takes a walk down the hall then back. He yawns.
Poetic.
ReplyDeleteYour writing style intrigues me. You make the most ordinary things sound extraordinary. The drip of a faucet. The air conditioner turning on.
ReplyDeleteI find that you're also really good at reading people. It's interesting.
Well, Ms. Elf Lady -- i think the extraordinary is usually just the ordinary with a little more clothing on.
ReplyDeleteWilliam Blake says it like this:
To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
I try to live like that. Honestly, in a lot of ways, it's like living in another universe.
This post is actually from a game I used to play by myself: I would close my eyes and try to figure out what was around me and where things were by hearing. It's one of those "live in the moment" things.
Focusing on being where I am; it would be impossible to play the game otherwise.
You have to clear out mental noise and just listen listen listen.
I love that quote...and you have such an interesting way of writing things Cloud.
ReplyDeleteThis was beautiful. And I agree with all that has been said before me. I really need to start writing just to write again. Hopefully I'll feel more creative after I finish school and the bar exam. :/
ReplyDeleteThanks you two. This was just me writing things as they happened for three minutes.
