So after two years of trying to get me to join, my friends got me in a car and on my way to AWA for 2010. This usually takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the third week of September.
This day happened outside of AWA because I didn't leave for AWA until after work and I didn't leave the office because of things I had to tie up for next week until 7:30pm that day. After this, I went to my house and packed for the weekend. A couple of jeans and t-shirts worked wonders and we were on the road. After this, we were supposed to pick up a friend, but instead ended up going to the hotel as Philip panicked about our rooms being given away (unnecessary IMO). Korri ended up texting "Where are you?" a lot and I had to break the news to him. Minor irritation, but this was quickly gotten over.
We finally did make it to his house and from there, we got McDonald's, made it to the room, and crashed for an early Saturday morning after talking about the relative peace and quiet of this trip in related to the year before.
EARLY MORNING with Philip trying to coax me out of bed. You would think he was trying to prepare me for Black Friday or something. Oh well, got up, got dressed and went downstairs. I bought a waffle and we talked, then headed over the the main event. Because we were there early, we got our tickets and everything settled in about twenty minutes. Sweetness. After that, we read the programs and decided were we wanted to go. My points of interest were:
I also went to the dealer's room, but thanks to the suggestions of Gden-kun, I forwent buying anything until... well, today. I did submit that I bought a pirate panda hat. There was no getting around buying it because I didn't know if that shop would be there tomorrow. It's soooooo cute. OMG!!!!
After that, Phil's g/f met up with us. We talked, we laughed, we ate at Waffle House only to have the card machine breakdown. Ugh... Anyway, we got that handled and skipped the remainder of AWA events for sleep.
We're about to check out now, head back for the last roundup and meet Gary for lunch before going home for the weekend. Loving the lack of drama and having fun with friends up here. :D
There will be more to post about the events of today since we're still here, but it is almost checkout time and I've not taken my shower yet, so gotta motor. :D
