laughing is fun

So today, I went with Quan and Rickey to Popeyes for lunch today. We rapped a bit and laughed a lot. It was a fun time.

As we got ready to depart, Rickey made some passing comment to which I said, "I'm grown; I do what I want." At this point, and I mean immediately after, I tripped over a warning sign. What sign? This one.

Rickey, of course, immediately bust out laughing. After that was over, I looked for my cell phone and couldn't find it. I knew right then: it was in the trash. I left it on the tray and threw it right in there.

I reached for it (it was near the top) and got it out. I was completely calm and just left the restaurant. Rickey and Sanquan continued to laugh. Rickey commented on it being embarrassing and, truth be told, normally it would be.

However, I have a healthy habit of laughing at myself. I don't like being embarrassed during business meetings and cornered, but this situation? This is just me being in a public place and tripping. Comical? Yes. Damaging to my rep? Well, it doesn't damage my integrity or my character. It's just one mistake out of a lifetime of them that I am going to make.

All of those thoughts came out in the form of laughter and simply enjoying the humor everyone shared about it. I didn't even try to hide it. I went home and immediately made it a detailed facebook status that everyone could read and tagged the witnesses. Take a look:

Why? I don't care and it was funny, that's why.

I'm grown, I do what I want, and now I also look for wet floor signs and make sure my phone is in my pocket. Sounds cool to me.

Sometimes, we need to realize we are just not that serious and laugh at ourselves.
